Defending yourself without being Bruce Lee or Rambo

In many parts of the world we have forgotten how to defend ourselves. Here in the U.S. it is generally pretty peaceful and safe. We tend to think that violent crime is something that happens to somebody else. So our self defense skills get rusty. Worse, there is a increasing tendency to worry more about offending a bad guy, than we are worried about our own safety! We don't have to live our lives on constant alert, but we should keep our eyes open. This blog can provide reminders of what can happen and what you can do about it.

This happened last week.

A couple points on this story.

1. Note that the bad guys worked as a team, one to car jack and the other to drive their getaway car. This is a common technique for car jackers.

2. The lady reacted immediately, fighting back and making a lot of noise.

Exit question #1: Could she have seen this coming?

Exit question #2: What could she have done to improve her chances of survival?
